92/100
The Wine Advocate
Wild Duck Creek's offerings can be the most concentrated and wickedly wild wines of Heathcote, but this vintage appears to have tamed some of this winery's fire and brimstone characteristics. However, at 16% alcohol, the 2003 Shiraz Springflat is no wimp. It exhibits surprising minerality along with crisp acidity as well as loads of blackberry and cassis fruit interwoven with background floral and new oak notes. Spicy, deep, medium to full-bodied, and impressively endowed, it requires several more years of bottle age, and should last for 12-15 years.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #161

89/100
Wine Spectator
Rich in color and texture, with black pepper scents wafting through a plush core of raspberry, cherry and spice aromas and flavors, echoing beautifully on the polished finish.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Oct 15 2005

d'Arenberg-The Coppermine Road-Cabernet Sauvignon-2002-750mL

The nose shows intense blackcurrant and cranberry fruit, and the subtle cedary cinnamon spice, barrel-ferment and oak derived aromas, violet and mint scents, as well as liquorice and chocolate smells. Interwined is this wounderful green edge that lifts the wine into a cool climate sepctrum which typifies the cold year. These aromas combine with some cassis, blueberry, and cranberry, with lingering mocha and plumy fruit and are just showing through amongst a long, intense vibrant, gritty fruit tannin finish.

A rich, round, soft, voluptuous, fruit driven Shiraz with a hint of confectionery sweetness in the background. A very approachable full bodied combination of blueberries, plum, Ribena, mocha chocolate, spice box, vanilla and pepper fill the palate with pleasurable flavours and the balanced soft tannin finish has both length and persistence.
