92/100
www.tysonstelzer.com
At 14% alcohol, this wine is appropriately named. It is firmly structured and intensely fruited with berry/cherry fruit, pepper and cinnamon spice flavours, finishing with bitter, dark chocolate. The addition of viognier makes itself more than apparent in apricot/tropical overtones. It should come together given a few years.

Torbreck-The Steading-Grenache Shiraz Mataro-2002-750mL

The melding of the three traditional Barossa varieties creates a tremendously complex and rewarding wine.

The Grenache and Mataro are from old bush vines that are pruned in the traditional ‘goblet’ style to a limited number of buds, reducing yields and promoting flavour and colour concentration. Only the free run component of the Shiraz is used in the blend to allow the Grenache identity to shine through.
