92/100
Wine Companion
Spicy, cedary, earthy aromas and flavours; a lingering, tangy, almost lemony, finish.
, James Halliday Issue: Dec 2004

91/100
Wine Spectator
Dark, ripe and plush in texture, with a strong minty character that runs through the vivid blackberry and roasted plum at the center, persisting on the spicy, mildly cedary finish. Tannins need to settle down.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Mar 31 2005

89/100
The Wine Advocate
Somewhat monolithic, but big and weighty in the mouth is the 2003 Shiraz Sophie's Garden from Padthaway. While not as charming or nuanced as some of its siblings, it is a foursquare effort boasting 16% alcohol (although it does not taste hot).
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #161

Two Hands-Lily's Garden-Shiraz-2004-750mL

Wow, This one scares me! Amazingly dense black in colour, the bouquet is expressive and filled with plums, mocha, aniseed, coffee, Asian spices and melted chocolate with secondary notes of clove and tobacco.

The mouthfeel is dense, lush and sweet with an oozy density and a layered fruit driven palate, this Lily’s is more like the 2002.

Two Hands-Bella's Garden-Shiraz-2003-750mL

This is a stunning follow up to the 2002.  Dense purple plum colour.  Pronounced glossy dark red fruits on the nose with a hint of vanilla spice.  On the palate thick swathes of rich blackberry fruit with subtle hints of cedary oak and dark chocolate with a dusting of fine chalky tannins, finishing with great persistency

Torbreck-Cuvee Juveniles-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2002-750mL

The Juveniles is a bold and seductive unoaked blend that represents a youthful wine made from old vines. Fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines is fermented, bottled and released early not dissimilar to a Nuevo style wine.

It is fragrant, intense and concentrated in flavour with blackberry, earth and Asian spices. Sensuous palate feel and tremendous length make this wine frighteningly drinkable now, yet with a constitution to mature in the cellar for many years.
