Kalleske-Greenock-Shiraz-2004-750mL

The wine is rich red-purple in colour. On the nose there are aromas of ripe black berry fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, fruit cake, plum, some nutmeg and cinnamon spice and a hint of black olive. These flavours continue to the explosive and mouthfilling palate, which is big, concentrated and displays plenty of juicy fruit with a subtle background of barrel maturation characters. The wine is full bodied and multi-layered with solid ripe, but elegant, tannins giving it a strong backbone and a long chewy finish. Rich and flavoursome, this well balanced wine has excellent cellaring potential.

94/100
The Wine Advocate
Produced from relatively young vines some of whose fruit is sold to Seppelt and Penfolds, the 2004 Shiraz Greenock possesses an opaque purple color in addition to a gorgeously rich nose of toasty, smoky oak interwoven with black raspberry, blackberry, and cassis fruit flavors. Full-bodied, rich, and spicy, with no hard edges, it displays a generous dosage of American oak that is nearly over the top.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #167

94/100
Wine Companion
Deep, dense colour; saturated blackberry, plum and black cherry fruit; ripe tannins and lots of complementary oak. Needs patience.
, James Halliday Issue: Nov 2005

93/100
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Inky violet. Gorgeous bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry and candied cherry, with subtle notes of mocha and spicecake. Lush, plump and fresh, the ripe berry flavors showing excellent purity and a tangy candied licorice note. Finishes with silky tannins and excellent length. This gained weight in the glass but never lost focus, and benefits from a compelling fruit/tannin balance.
ST, Josh Raynolds Issue: Aug 1 2006

88/100
Wine Spectator
Dense, chewy style has firm tannins around a core of ripe blackberry and cherry, shaded with cedar and pepper as the finish persists.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: 2005
