eRobertParker
The spectacular 2004 Shiraz was sourced from vines planted in 1906 with yields a meager 1.25 tons per acre. It was aged for 2 years in new French oak hogsheads (300-liter barrels). Opaque purple-colored, it has a superb bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, licorice, blackberry, and blueberry pie. This leads to a full-bodied, mouth-filling, opulent wine with layers of flavor, great depth, and a long, 60-second finish.

94/100
Wine Spectator
Dense, rich and distinctive for the red berry accents to its dark plum and licorice flavors, maintaining a sense of freshness in the face of very ripe character and stunning depth. The tannins melt nicely into the finish. Has high alcohol, but handles it well.

The 2004 Descendant is by far the most impressive release of this wine, the colour making that immediately apparent; completely black/purple with healthy, vibrant magenta hues. A pure, wild, powerful nose of blackberry and tar is complimented by a gentle floral lift of lavender and violets. Fullbodied with great concentration, silky tannins and perfectly judged extract, this vigorous and suave young wine has a long, long future ahead of it.

Our homage to the great old vines of the Barossa Valley, this wine is composed of 100% Shiraz. Complex and concentrated, the wine is cloaked in velvet tannins that will continue to develop for another 10 at least. The Factor is all that you would expect of a pureblood Barossa Shiraz.
