95/100
eRobertParker
The 2004 Shiraz 'Gregor' was sourced from a younger vineyard and includes some partially dried fruit in the style of Amarone. The wine spent 2 years in new French oak hogsheads. It is more deeply colored than its sibling and has a liqueur/port-like character to its aromas and flavors. Powerful, rich, and layered, but with less complexity, this lengthy wine can be enjoyed over time.

93/100
Wine Spectator
Dense, dark and dangerous, a smooth-textured red that comes on strong with dried blueberry, cherry and Asian spice. The flavors sing loud, with remarkable harmony on the full-throttle finish.

Hobbs-Of Barossa Ranges-Viognier-2004-375mL

All of our dessert wines are made the same way. We do not use Botrytis infected fruit or fortification in any of our dessert wines. After hand picking the grapes are placed into trays and semi dried. This drying process highlights and intensifies natural flavours and aromas. Giving a very long clean and crisp finish combined with wonderful fruit. Pretty, fresh and slightly herby with some complexity. The palate is soft and sweet with a nice freshness and some peachy, herby elements.

Picked from White Frontignac vines planted around 1945. Hobbs do not use Botrytis infected fruit or fortification in any of their dessert wines. After hand picking the grapes are placed into trays and semi dried. This drying process highlights and intensifies natural flavours and aromas. Giving a very long clean and crisp finish combined with wonderful fruit. The colour is a light gold. The nose is lifted apple blossom and honey with light floral notes. The palate is green apples, ripe watermelon and nashi pear. The flavours are long and lingering with great acidity. Aromatic and delicious.

Shirvington-Estate-Shiraz-2005-750mL

The 2005 vintage is now showing deep red with a purple rim. The wine in its infancy still shows a lifted and perfumed nose with traces of red plum, blackcurrant and cracked red peppercorn. The palate with all its freshness and luxurious, velvety tannins is so rich and concentrated, yet so reserved. It is a satisfying mixture of chocolate, aniseed and smoky oak. The copious layers are incredibly tightly bound and need time and careful cellaring to unleash the full potential of this wine
