Professional Reviews

98/100
The Wine Advocate
From 16-year-old vines, the inky/purple-tinged 2003 Shiraz Seven Acres was aged 28 months in American wood, but it has soaked up all its vanillin characteristics, exhibiting a beautifully sweet nose of blueberries, blackberries, tar, and crushed rocks. Dense, full-bodied, and opulent, this stunning Shiraz is a candidate for 'Shiraz of the Vintage' in 2003.

Torbreck The Factor Shiraz 2002 750mL

Our homage to the great old vines of the Barossa Valley, this wine is composed of 100% Shiraz. Complex and concentrated, the wine is cloaked in velvet tannins that will continue to develop for another 10 at least. The Factor is all that you would expect of a pureblood Barossa Shiraz.

Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2000 750mL

A mouthfilling, generous and expansive palate, as expected of this marque. Dark chocolate and plum fruits court a deceptive play of substantial ripe tannins and, at this relatively early stage, provide for a more powerful Grange stamp on the palate than on the nose.

Oak plays a supportive role and is perfectly integrated and absorbed. This is a wine of admirable balance and poise, with trademark mid-palate richness.
