This is a powerful, rich wine which blends intensity with the Glaetzer hallmarks of complexity and elegance.   A food-friendly wine, Glaetzer Shiraz is dark purple in colour, with some hints of red. A brooding nose which takes time in the glass to evolve. Initially showing cracked pepper, mulberry and wisps of earthy spice the wine shows a multitude of aromas after breathing to display ripe plums and crushed herbs. The palate has supple tannin structure which supports masses of briary fruit and rich chocolate and roasted coffee flavours.

Wine Companion
Deep but bright purple-red; a luscious array of succulent, perfectly ripened, black fruits; excellent balance and length; nuanced tannins and oak.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Inky ruby. Spicy blackberry, cherry and dark chocolate on the nose, with complicating notes of espresso and dried violet. Cool and restrained, with a suave, silky tone to the dark fruit flavors and gentle acids bringing freshness and energy. Nothing overdone here. There's impressive clarity and length to the blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Really gorgeous.

Jancis Robinson
Made from mainly Ebenezer fruit from 80 to 115 year-old vines. Aged in a mixture of new French barrique and American hogsheads. Very deep crimson. Very complete nose that seems to express Barossa Shiraz in a particularly fine form. Very sophisticated wine – great breadth and extremely fine tannins and lovely structure. Tense fruit that is fully ripe but very dry – though not at all drying - on the finish. Miraculously ‘cool’ on the finish. Quite beautifully made.
JR, Jancis Robinson Issue: Nov 2005

92/100
Wine Spectator
Bright in flavor, refined in structure, with firm tannins surrounding a vibrant core of plum, blueberry and pomegranate fruit, all of which echo harmoniously on the round, focused finish.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Sep 30 2003
