The 2004 Glaetzer Bishop is deep red with purple hues.  A lifted nose of ripe plums, cinnamon and spice leads to flavours of liquorice and nutmeg supported by firm, rounded tannin.  The wine shows a hint of French oak which adds extra dimension to the wine's complexity.  The wine will age well for 6 to 8 years.
Professional Reviews

95/100
Wine Companion
Again, luscious and rich, with cascades of black fruits; perhaps not with quite the same finesse as the Barossa Valley Shiraz; good tannin and oak.
, James Halliday Issue: Mar 2006

94/100
Wine Spectator
Smooth and round, with a fine zing of acidity to balance the rich, classic cherry, blackberry and licorice flavors, hinting at Provençal herbs and black pepper as the finish sails on and on. Beautifully balanced and harmonious, this is built to grow with age.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Jul 31 2003

91-94/100
The Wine Advocate
The 2004 Bishop (100% Shiraz aged 14 months in both hogsheads and small barrels) is fashioned from some of Ben Glaetzer's “younger” vines (only 40-80 years old). A spicy, peppery, earthy, cherry, blackberry, and licorice-scented bouquet is turbo-charged, soaring from the glass. This full-bodied, savory, heady, rich wine boasts impressive balance, concentration, and overall mouthfeel.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #161

91/100
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Saturated violet. Inky, primal blackberry, cassis and cherry pit on the nose. Powerful and dense, with a structured impression of dark cherry, candied plum and sweet tobacco. This has a serious foundation of concentrated dark fruits and tannins, but there's also impressive sweetness. Finishes weighty, sweet and long, with a note of bitter chocolate. One for the cellar.
ST, Josh Raynolds Issue: Aug 1 2006

17/20
Jancis Robinson
The earlier-maturing vats of unirrigated fruit from 40 to 80 year-old vines, largely from Ebenezer in the north west of the Barossa Valley. Hint of damson-like acidity on the nose and then wonderfully broad notes of pepper and chocolate on the palate. Very clean and fresh. Just a slight hole in the middle. Pretty good buy – and much more lifted, concentrated and vital than the average Barossa Shiraz.
JR, Jancis Robinson Issue: Nov 2005
