Intense vibrant purple, black colour. Lifted complex aromas of berry, cherry, blackcurrant fruit, chocolate and mocha with subtle integrated oak complexity of vanilla and cigar box. The palate has lashings of fruitcake, rum & raison and chocolate. The structure is very rich, thick and concentrated with a well integrated full palate and ripe complex fruit.

Upon release, ‘The Dead Arm’ Shiraz has a vivid, young, dense, purple-red colour. Very intense aromas with a complex combination of fragrant spices and violets, dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry, are made more complex with great liquorice, pepper and integrated svelte of boot-polish like characters. The taste is rich, gutsy and virile, with attacking spice, dark liquorice, cherry, blackberry, plum and dried black olive. The level of fruit weight masks the framework of oak tannins; however, the mineral fruit grittiness is balanced with a very long fruit-fragrant, persistent spice will yield a wine of great ageing power.
Not subtle, but this whopper is crammed with lots of good flavours and is rich and powerful. Mint, anise and eucalyptus aromas; very ripe fruit; massive body and structure. A meal in itself.
A special McLaren Vale Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the excellent 2002 vintage. Originally made for a private client from Fox Creek's own grapes, it was for sale to private customers and not available for normal retail sale. The blend in this wine is 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Shiraz was fermented on skins for 8 days and about 10% of the wine saw barrel fermentation during the later stages of the fermentation. The Cabernet Sauvignon components were fermented to dryness, before being transferred to oak. Maturation was in approximately 20% French and 80% American oak, with about 30% of this being new oak.
Appears bright cherry red with a darker plum coloured core. The nose shows licorice and dark fruits, toasty oak with a chocolatey rum & raisin aroma. The entry to the palate is soft with a rich solid palate that is typically McLaren Vale, with blackcurrant and stewed plum flavours. The structure is typical of Fox Creek showing ripe fruit tannin with integrated oak complexity.
Strong bright rim with a mid-deep red core.
The hints of blackcurrant and blackberry are typical characters of this variety. Typically McLaren Vale produces a dark, spicy chocolate character in Cabernet and this is evident. However, this wine has fascinating aromas of mint, leather and dark cherries. The oak shows when the wine is first poured, but with a little time in the glass yields to give a subtle cinnamon, char and cherry combination.
As a young wine, the palate is a little tight. The cherry and chocolate come through as does a blackberry fruit character. The tannin and acidity are firm, but balanced for a wine that will drink well when young, preferably with food. It will develop further complexity with cellaring.
Deep red central core with vibrant purple rim. Showing typical McLaren Vale Cabernet aromas of spicy blackberry and chocolate together with mint and dark cherries complexed by lifted oak char and cinnamon. Intense black fruits and cherries are supported by firm acidity and enveloping tannin structure giving great balance to the depth.
Vibrant deep red black with intense violet rim. Powerful lifted complex fruit aromas of cassis, tobacco leaf and subtle spicy oak. Intensely fresh cassis and blackberry flavours with cinnamon and licorice complexity. The fruit weight is balanced by enveloping firm tannin structure and the finish has great length.
