The shiraz is regarded as a wonderful example of southern Victorian red wine. This wine has white pepper and spice flavours, more intense in cooler years, with red fruits prevalent in warmer years. Subtle oak flavours complement the fruit. The wine ages gracefully and gives pleasure over many years.

Professional Reviews

88/100
The Wine Advocate
Wild berries intermixed with earth, herbs, and pepper emerge from the dark ruby-colored 2001 Shiraz. It possesses good power, density, and balance, with no hard edges.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #155

87/100
Wine Spectator
On the lean side, with a minty note running through the ripe currant and red pepper flavors. Lingers nicely.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: 2005

16/20
Jancis Robinson
Mid crimson. Bit dull in colour. Sweet fruit plus oak on the nose. Some gentle appeal and briary autumnal flavours of interest. Tannins better managed than most but very aggressive on the finish.
JR, Jancis Robinson Issue: Nov 2005

Daniel's Top Picks
This wine has come into its own and is at a great stage of its life. Fruit has softens to make way for some secondary characters with some fine cedar, cigar box characters. Still a good tannin structure that is hallmark of Craiglee and its ability to age. Drinking well for the next 3-5 years. Now is the time to buy to drink this wine!
