The 2004 Descendant is by far the most impressive release of this wine, the colour making that immediately apparent; completely black/purple with healthy, vibrant magenta hues.

98/100
The Wine Advocate
The 2004 Descendant, an old oak-aged blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier from a 12-year old vineyard, offers up notes of blackberries, ink, sweet truffles, and acacia flowers. There are 1,000 cases of this full-bodied, intense, rich blockbuster.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #167

96/100
Wine Companion
Almost impenetrable purple-red colour; marries elegance bordering on restraint with intense blackberry fruit and viognier lift; controlled oak, tannins and alcohol.
, James Halliday Issue: Feb 2006

93/100
Wine Spectator
Lithe, open-textured Shiraz-Viognier blend, offering pretty boysenberry flavors. Feels lighter than most Barossa Shiraz and shows the floral and peach accents of the Viognier. Not quite as seamless as previous vintages, but it has a personality of its own.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Oct 15 2006

93/100
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Deep ruby. Primary aromas of berry skin, violet, freshly roasted coffee, high-fat chocolate and cinnamon. Very fresh in the mouth, with dense but tangy flavors of cassis, blueberry, mocha and fruitcake. Impressively concentrated and focused wine. With air, this deepened in flavor but gave up nothing in finesse. Finishes sweet and quite long, with an exotic chocolate note and bright acids.
ST, Josh Raynolds Issue: Aug 1 2006

Torbreck-Cuvee Juveniles-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2002-750mL

The Juveniles is a bold and seductive unoaked blend that represents a youthful wine made from old vines. Fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines is fermented, bottled and released early not dissimilar to a Nuevo style wine.

It is fragrant, intense and concentrated in flavour with blackberry, earth and Asian spices. Sensuous palate feel and tremendous length make this wine frighteningly drinkable now, yet with a constitution to mature in the cellar for many years.

Torbreck-The Factor-Shiraz-2003-750mL

Our homage to the great old vines of the Barossa Valley, this wine is composed of 100% Shiraz. Complex and concentrated, the wine is cloaked in velvet tannins that will continue to develop for another 10 at least.

The Factor is all that you would expect of a pureblood Barossa Shiraz.

Torbreck-The Struie-Shiraz-2004-750mL

When poured, the density and depth of the 2004 Struie is immediately apparent; completely black/purple with an opulent magenta tinge. A floral hit of violets makes way for the more brooding aromas of tar, chocolate, licorice and coffee with a subtle hint of cinnamon and spice.

The rich, luscious palate of great concentration envelopes the mouth and silky smooth tannins compliment and complete this elegant blend.
