The Wine Advocate

From 60-year-old vines, the 2004 Grenache Cornerstone (which was aged in old French wood) reveals plenty of power and potency (16% alcohol), yet comes across as elegant, restrained, and almost feminine. Its deep ruby color is followed by a sweet perfume of black cherries, loamy soils, crushed pepper, and a southern Rhone Valley floral-like character. With superb purity, texture, and definition. A full-bodied yet light on its feet beauty.

d'Arenberg-The Coppermine Road-Cabernet Sauvignon-2002-750mL

The nose shows intense blackcurrant and cranberry fruit, and the subtle cedary cinnamon spice, barrel-ferment and oak derived aromas, violet and mint scents, as well as liquorice and chocolate smells. Interwined is this wounderful green edge that lifts the wine into a cool climate sepctrum which typifies the cold year. These aromas combine with some cassis, blueberry, and cranberry, with lingering mocha and plumy fruit and are just showing through amongst a long, intense vibrant, gritty fruit tannin finish.

d'Arenberg-The Dead Arm-Shiraz-2002-750mL

The 2002 season was characterised by a cold, wet winter and spring, which produced lower yields with good, thick-skinned berries. The cool and dry summer ripened fruit gradually and a warm, dry autumn allowed the grapes to ripen fully, producing some of the best and most exotic characters seen for many years.

Shirvington-Estate-Shiraz-2003-750mL

This wine will give you all the flavours and nuances you are looking for in a McLaren Vale Shiraz. It has a lifted intense nose with chocolate, licorice, cherries and spice characters. The palate is mouth watering with layers of complexity and length. The fruit flavours are powerful, yet velvety and seamless. It is a delight to drink.
