94/100
Wine Companion
A very pure bouquet, the palate no less so; unmistakable grenache sweetness, but doesn't descend into jammy confectionery mode; oak and tannins are afterplay to the main action.
, James Halliday Issue: Dec 2006

93/100
The Wine Advocate
With an extraordinary elegance and cool climate Grenache character (the vines are 93 years old), the 2003 Old Vine Collection Grenache is not terribly dissimilar from an old Rayas Chateauneuf du Pape. Peppery kirsch and raspberry liqueur-like notes jump from the glass of this medium ruby-colored, pure Australian Grenache. This wine has striking minerality, precision, elegance, complexity, and wonderful density.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #167

Fox Creek-Fox & Hounds-Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon-2003-750mL

Appears bright cherry red with a darker plum coloured core. The nose shows licorice and dark fruits, toasty oak with a chocolatey rum & raisin aroma. The entry to the palate is soft with a rich solid palate that is typically McLaren Vale, with blackcurrant and stewed plum flavours. The structure is typical of Fox Creek showing ripe fruit tannin with integrated oak complexity.

d'Arenberg-The Coppermine Road-Cabernet Sauvignon-2002-750mL

The nose shows intense blackcurrant and cranberry fruit, and the subtle cedary cinnamon spice, barrel-ferment and oak derived aromas, violet and mint scents, as well as liquorice and chocolate smells. Interwined is this wounderful green edge that lifts the wine into a cool climate sepctrum which typifies the cold year. These aromas combine with some cassis, blueberry, and cranberry, with lingering mocha and plumy fruit and are just showing through amongst a long, intense vibrant, gritty fruit tannin finish.

Two Hands-Bella's Garden-Shiraz-2005-1.5L

Dense purple red almost black.  A powerful nose of ripe plums and succulent blackberries laced with a hint of cedar spice. Wow!  Bella's as always shows amazing depth and power whilst maintaining an elegant fruit purity.  Matured in all French oak, the majority being seasoned barrels, allowing the fruit to do the talking with only the merest hint of cedar oak to support the ripe plum and mulberry flavours.  Finely woven tannins produce a long linear wine forming a race track like structure along the palate.  Great length and persistency of flavour.
