Torbreck-The Steading-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2002-6L

Producer: Torbreck
SKU: 565
Delivery date: Dispatch within 1-3 day's
The melding of the three traditional Barossa varieties creates a tremendously complex and rewarding wine. The Grenache and Mataro are from old bush vines that are pruned in the traditional ‘goblet’ style to a limited number of buds, reducing yields and promoting flavour and colour concentration. Only the free run component of the Shiraz is used in the blend to allow the Grenache identity to shine through.

93/100
The Wine Advocate
David Powell consistently excels with The Steading, an 8,000 case blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Shiraz. Aged 22 months in 300 liter hogsheads (foudres), it represents Australia's version of Chateauneuf du Pape. The 2002 The Steading's big, spicy, earthy nose reveals notions of cherry liqueur, licorice, pepper, dried Provencal herbs, raspberries, and leather. Ripe, medium to full-bodied, chewy, and heady, it is best drunk during its first 7-8 years of life, although it will last a lot longer.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #155

93/100
Wine Companion
Complex texture, structure and flavour; a melange of sweet tobacco, spice and fruits; sophisticated medium-bodied wine; fine, savoury tannins.
, James Halliday Issue: Jul 2004

89/100
Wine Spectator
Firm, with an earthy, gamy edge to the well-focused cherry and berry flavors, all lingering on the fine-grained, somewhat leathery finish. Grenache, Mataro (Mourvèdre) and Shiraz.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Jun 15 2005

17/20
Jancis Robinson
Much more savoury than the Juveniles. Salty Syrah (not Shiraz) flavours seem to dominate. Soft and gentle on the palate and then a pretty tough finish for now.
JR, Jancis Robinson Issue: Oct 2005

Fox Creek-Fox & Hounds-Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon-2003-750mL

Appears bright cherry red with a darker plum coloured core. The nose shows licorice and dark fruits, toasty oak with a chocolatey rum & raisin aroma. The entry to the palate is soft with a rich solid palate that is typically McLaren Vale, with blackcurrant and stewed plum flavours. The structure is typical of Fox Creek showing ripe fruit tannin with integrated oak complexity.

Torbreck-The Factor-Shiraz-2004-6L

Beautifully packaged in a wooden presentation box – perfect gift idea.

Our homage to the great old vines of the Barossa Valley, this wine is composed of 100% Shiraz. Complex and concentrated, the wine is cloaked in velvet tannins that will continue to develop for another 10 at least.

The Factor is all that you would expect of a pureblood Barossa Shiraz.

Torbreck-Les Amis-Grenache-2004-3L

The 2004 Les Amis is a direct and distinctive reflection of the 2004 Vintage – flamboyant, rich and elegant. The nose flows from lavender, violets, black cherries and squashed raspberries to liquorice and spice. The overtly opulent palate is silky smooth, persistent and spicy, with a hint of refreshing, juicy fruit just to remind you that this is actually Grenache.
