Torbreck-Cuvee Juveniles-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2002-750mL

Producer: Torbreck
SKU: 537
Delivery date: Dispatch within 1-3 day's

The Juveniles is a bold and seductive unoaked blend that represents a youthful wine made from old vines. Fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines is fermented, bottled and released early not dissimilar to a Nuevo style wine.

It is fragrant, intense and concentrated in flavour with blackberry, earth and Asian spices. Sensuous palate feel and tremendous length make this wine frighteningly drinkable now, yet with a constitution to mature in the cellar for many years.

90/100
The Wine Advocate
The unwooded blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, and 20% Shiraz, the 2002 Juveniles, is a crunchy, deliriously fruity red offering aromas of kirsch liqueur, pepper, and spice box in a fruit-driven, full-bodied style that is immensely captivating as well as satisfying.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #148

88/100
Wine Spectator
Earthy, dusky blackberry and anise flavors have distinction and persistence, filling out nicely on the plump finish, framed with a layer of chunky tannins. Grenache, Mataro (Mourvedre) and Shiraz.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Jul 31 2003

88/100
Wine Companion
Medium red-purple; fresh, juicy berry aromas are replicated on the palate, which has plenty of flavour yet is very soft and with ripe tannins. Micro-oxygenation may well have been used in this unoaked blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Shiraz.
, James Halliday Issue: Dec 2002

Jancis Robinson
Wonderfully rich, easy, unoaked blend of very old red Rhône vines.

Torbreck-The Steading-Grenache Shiraz Mataro-2001-750mL

The melding of the three traditional Barossa varieties creates a tremendously complex and rewarding wine. The Grenache and Mataro are from old bush vines that are pruned in the traditional ‘goblet’ style to a limited number of buds, reducing yields and promoting flavour and colour concentration. Only the free run component of the Shiraz is used in the blend to allow the Grenache identity to shine through.

Maturation: Single vineyard components are fermented and matured separately and later blended prior to bottling. The wine is aged in seasoned French and American oak barrels for 18 months.

Two Hands-Bella's Garden-Shiraz-2004-750mL

Deep black core with an intense purple rim. The nose shows great intensity of blackberries and plum with a cedar dark chocolate edge.  A seamless full bodied palate showing a complex kaleidoscope of black fruits that are not intrusive but mingle harmoniously with the subtleties of the oak.

This wine possesses elegance and fruit purity; the tannins are evident but well balanced producing a ‘silk pillow’ mouth feel that is long and persistent.
