Torbreck-Cuvee Juveniles-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2001-750mL

Producer: Torbreck
SKU: 536
Delivery date: Dispatch within 1-3 day's

The Juveniles is a bold and seductive unoaked blend that represents a youthful wine made from old vines. Fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines is fermented, bottled and released early not dissimilar to a Nuevo style wine. It is fragrant, intense and concentrated in flavour with blackberry, earth and Asian spices. Sensuous palate feel and tremendous length make this wine frighteningly drinkable now, yet with a constitution to mature in the cellar for many years.

89/100
The Wine Advocate
The 5,200 case cuvee of 2001 Juveniles is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mataro (Mourvedre), and 20% Shiraz aged completely in tank. This fruit-bomb exhibits copious quantities of raspberry, cherry, and blackberry fruit, along with hints of Asian spices and Acacia flowers. Sweet and expansive (from concentration, not sugar), succulent, fleshy, and hedonistic, this sexy, fruit-driven, New World red will drink well for 5-6 years, possibly longer.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #143

85/100
Wine Companion
Light to medium red-purple; a fragrant and clean bouquet with some herb and mint aspects is followed by a palate in which juicy, jammy grenache varietal flavour dominates the wine; zero tannins, the overall effect equivalent to a high octane Rose, best served slightly chilled.
, James Halliday Issue: Dec 2001
