92/100
Wine Spectator
Firm in texture, radiant in flavor, offering juicy red cherry and blackberry fruit, tinged with subtle spices and a tiny hint of leather. The flavors seem to float in midair for minutes.
WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: Aug 31 2003

92/100
The Wine Advocate
Less evolved and more powerful than the 2000, the 2001 The Ironstone Pressings (which I misidentified in issue #143 last year ... it should have been listed as the 1999 Ironstone Pressings) is a blockbuster effort displaying a deeper, more saturated color as well as more aging potential. Possessing a boatload of tannin, huge blackberry, peppery fruit notes along with hints of balsam wood and loamy soil undertones, it is an extremely impressive yet tightly-knit red that will be even better over time.
WA, Robert Parker Jr. Issue: #148

Fox Creek-JSM-Shiraz Cabernet-2001-750mL

A bright wine with a red rim and a darker plum coloured core. Spicy red cherry and dark cherry combination with a smoky character derived from 15 months in oak. There are also hints of caramel from barrel maturation and pepper from the Shiraz component in the wine. As a young wine, the entry to the palate is soft yet fresh. In the mouth the wine expands to give a range of flavours from cherry and dark berries to a spice-like quality. The tannins are firm, but soft enough so as to complement the fruit weight. The wine has a sweet middle palate, but finishes dry.
