Professional Reviews

92/100
Wine Companion
Medium-bodied; elegant, finely structured style; a subtle interplay of blackcurrant, earth, olive and fine French oak; long, balanced finish.

90/100
The Wine Advocate
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyril Henschke exhibits a Bordeaux-like austerity as well as aromas and flavors of tobacco smoke, licorice, spice box, red currants, black currants, and sweet cherries. It has an elegant, bright, zesty personality.

Under cork !
What a ripper wine ! The cork is like it was put into the bottle yesterday - preformed perfectly under great storage conditions. The Cabernet is perfectly balanced with the Cabernet franc adding a freshness and vitality that I would not have expected. Subtle oak and lovely berry , mocha and spice. Cellar for at least 10 more years but I suspect will drink best for the next 5.

Two Hands Deer in Headlights Shiraz 2004 750mL

Vibrant purple red plum colour. The nose shows an abundance of juicy cassis and blackberry fruit with an undercurrent of cedar spice. Not a wine for the faint hearted, the palate shows incredible concentration with luscious mouth-coating tannins. Although a powerhouse, everything is in check with an excellent balance of fruit concentration, tannin and acid. Flavours of dark chocolate, plum, and black cherry are beautifully integrated with cedary oak. The palate is like the perfect wave, building in intensity towards an impressive long finish with great persistency.
