91/100
Wine Spectator
Sweet, but it stops short of syrupy, with a lovely caramel and brewed tea quality that lingers, along with a touch of pineapple and floral notes.

Kaesler-Stonehorse-Shiraz-2003-750mL

The Stonehorse wines are vinified to make styles that emphasise fruit characteristics with complementary barrel maturation.

The oak is designed to support and add structure to the palate without compromising the drink ability of the wine. They are wines that are made to be enjoyed while in their youth.

d'Arenberg-The Ironstone Pressings-Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre-2002-1.5L

With time the full spice, strawberry and liquorice and blackcurrants will develop with fresh pepper tails; at this stage, it is a mean monster with fragrant, gritty, fruit tannins that go on forever.

Eventually, the Grenache and Shiraz blossom as rich, sweet, violet-like scents, with spicy based aroma, before malty, sweet, dark chocolate flavours and crunchy, chewy textured black olive, spicy ginger and long fleshy textures. The Mourvedre adds dried herbs and iodine characters that are very persistent, matched with slightly chalky tannins.

The hallmark of vigorous, fine piquant tannin and acidity continue to reside with ‘The Ironstone Pressings’ after some considerable time, as have previous vintages since the late 1950’s.

Dutschke-Estate-Muscat-NV-375mL

The Muscat is a blend of North East Victorian Muscat which has "trickled" into Barossa Muscat and now some of the neighboring, Wally Krieg's red Muscat into over the recent years. This Muscat shows richness and a complexity of flavours. Fruitcake, toffee, raisins, coffee, combining with the natural grape sweetness, oak and alcohol produce a wine style uniquely Australian. Drink now or cellar.
