The Aramis Vineyards consist of just two varieties Shiraz (18 ha) and Cabernet Sauvignon (8 ha). Viticulturist David Mills is a third-generation McLaren Vale resident and has been involved in the establishment of the vineyards from the beginning. Winemaker Scott Rawlinson joined the Aramis team under the direction of owner Lee Flourentzou. Aramis exports to the UK, the US, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Every great wine tells a story. It leads you to another place, sharing the beauty of the vineyards where it was produced and the passion of the people who made it.

In 1998, when Lee Flourentzou purchased a small parcel of land in the corner of the world-renowned McLaren Vale, he wanted to create a collection of wines that reflected his own sense of passion, adventure and style.
 

He took his inspiration from one of the greatest stories of all times – The Three Musketeers, and one of its most enduring characters, the visionary Aramis. From that day forward, the team at Aramis Vineyards has dedicated itself to crafting a small range of classic wines that live and breathe their unique heritage, including some of Australia’s most iconic and unashamedly hedonistic reds, The Governor and the O’Aristocratis Sparkling Syrah.

Aramis Vineyards is located in the southern foothills of South Australia’s stunning McLaren Vale. Nestled between the Mount Lofty ranges and the beaches of Gulf St Vincent, it is a region renowned for its outstanding wines, artisan produce and magnificent scenery.

Just 45 minutes south of the South Australian state capital of Adelaide, McLaren Vale is one of the oldest winemaking regions in Australia, with vines first planted in the 1830s. These days its Shiraz vines count amongst the oldest in the world, many of them over 100 years old. It has always been considered a pioneering region and is home to both giants of the Australian wine industry (Hardy’s, Rosemount) and a myriad of exciting boutique producers.

The Mediterranean climate of warm sunny days and cooler evenings creates ideal conditions for the growing and ripening of grapes. The cooling afternoon breezes that sweep in from the Gulf St Vincent provide vineyards with relief from the intensity of the midday sun and help to ensure that the fruit ripens evenly, while the cool nights ensure that the natural acidity of the grapes is maintained. This temperate climate plays a large role in allowing McLaren Vale fruit to achieve consistency in its quality year after year.

The flagship varietal of the region is Shiraz, accounting for almost half of total plantings, and considered by many to be the best in the world.
