On the crisp side, with an earthy edge to the olive and dried berry flavors, persisting on the lively finish.
- WS, Harvey Steiman Issue: 2005
A glorious example of South Australian Shiraz is the 2002 Shiraz Hillside. Made from relatively young vines (8-34 years of age), this flamboyant, pleasant 2002 is impossible to resist. Already rocking and rolling, it has aging potential. A deep plum/ruby/purple hue is followed by glorious aromas of black fruits, flowers, dusty, loamy, truffle-like scents, and a classic combination of pepper and licorice. The wine saturates the palate with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, and alcohol (15%). The finish is opulent and multilayered.
- WA, Robert Parker Jnr. Issue: #155
Medium ruby. Assertive, high-toned red berry aromas are complemented by anise, coconut, violet and rose.Quite suave in texture, with bright, sweet flavors of raspberry, cherry, violet pastille and candied licorice. There's nice lift and energy to the finish, which shows clear raspberry and cherry flavors that really cling to the palate.
- IWC, Josh Raynolds Issue: Aug 1 2005
Elegant, medium-bodied style; does not show its 15 alcohol, partly due to balancing acidity; savoury, dark fruits.
